The tour is still in support of M83’s fifth album Saturdays = Youth released April 2008 on Mute.
The M83 live setup includes Gonzalez on vocals, guitars and keyboards, Loic Maurin on Drums, Pierre-Marie Maulini on bass and guitar and featured album vocalist Morgan Kibby (of LA-based band The Romanovs) on vocals and keyboards.

DOWNLOAD: My Brightest Diamond: Tainted Love (Soft Cell/Gloria Jones cover) (MP3)

My Brightest Diamond is playing a show with Clare & the Reasons at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC on December 13th. Tickets are on sale. In other MBD news,
[the new album] Guilt By Association Vol 2 was conceptualized and produced by [former BV contributor] Wesley Verhoeve and lends towards danceable covers of some of the artists favorite pop songs. “We wanted to take what was done on Volume 1 and pour it into a cohesive framework. We’re big fans of pop music, but also of indie music and in that sense there’s nothing ironic about this project. Together with the artists we picked pop songs they loved that might sometimes be painted as guilty pleasures by some (but not us), and then attempted to shine a light on them in a way that exposes what is so awesome about these songs,” says Wes.
The Forms’s cover of Billy Joel’s ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’ or My Brightest Diamond’s take on ‘Tainted Love’, are transformed into a slamming modern indie dance party track that fits right into today’s’ Brooklyn scene. Others like Matt Pond PA’s version of My Chemical Romance’ “I’m Not Okay” provide us with a quick mellow moment of melancholy.
Download the MBD track above. Stream the whole album and check out the full tracklist below. All MBD tour dates are down there too…

“It is with great regret that we have postponed Flower Travellin’ Band’s performance to Tues. Dec. 9th; tickets will be honored at the door on the rescheduled date, or you may obtain a full refund at your point of purchase. The Third Annual Halleluwah Festival will still take place this weekend, and a $10 refund will be issued at the box office night of show for those who would still like to attend ($15 refund Sunday).” - Knitting Factory
bummer. It has to do with visa issues. Tickets for the new date (one show, not two) are on sale. FTB also list a Toronto show on their website.
Knitting Factory’s website still lists all the other bands that were set to play the fest this weekend, but at least one, Silver Summit, definitely pulled out of their scheduled Sunday performance.

Clogs @ Tonic - November 7, 2005 (more)

Bell Orchestre @ Tonic - November 7, 2005 (more)

Clogs (featuring members of The National) and Bell Orchestre (featuring members of Arcade Fire) went on a short tour together back in 2005. Since then there hasn’t been a ton going on with the two higher-art indie-rock side projects, which makes sense, since both the Arcade Fire and The National have been keeping more than busy. That should change a bit in 2009 though, when not only are both groups releasing new albums, but they will also both share a NYC stage once again - this time with the added bonus of Michael Christie and the Brooklyn Philharmonic.
Shuffle Mode
Thu, Feb 26, 2009 at 8pm
Michael Christie, conductor
Shuffle Mode will bring a critically acclaimed independent artist to the mainstage in an exiting new concert format. Using seeming contradictory musical languages to create a dialogue, Michael Christie and the orchestra will team up with a sensational guest artist in a concert accessing a broad variety of sounds and styles. The guest artist is currently TBA.
BAM Howard Gilman Opera House
Tickets: $15, 30, 40, $50
Tickets are on sale. Grizzly Bear and Final Fantasy play with the Brooklyn Philharmonic two days later. All dates below…
