Taking a break from Where The Wild Things Are-related Karen O news for a moment … When Passion Pit got their hands on “Heads Will Roll” we ended up with so-so Sprockets-style techno. If you recall, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ video for the original included a dancing werewolf, the single’s cover art featuring the same wolf (see above) sporting lipstick traces. In time or Halloween, we have a non-single take on the It’s Blitz tune. Basically, A-Trak’s taken a break from those recent ’70s Duck Sauce stylings to conjure a darker dance club workout.

The promotional campaign started with a preview trailer and classical music-dropping onscreen interview to whet folks’ appetites. Now that you’re plenty familiar with “11th Dimension,” take a listen to some snippets of the seven other tracks on the Strokes man’s solo debut … to further whet your appetite. It’s a bit difficult absorbing an album as a 4-minute-and-change collage — even in the age of ADD — but it’ll give you an idea.

About this week’s Detroit gig the “I Hate People” singer blogs: “dude fucked up during the last song by flicking lit cigarettes at me. not cool. i kicked his ass, there was blood, and everyone at the show cheered because he sucked.” And in her defense the tour is cursed.

Spiral Stairs’ The Real Feel opens with the bluesy rocker “True Love.” The song bounces along with a similar feel as Maltese T” (FKA “Maltese Terrier”). If those are the only two tracks you’ve heard from Scott Kannberg’s proper solo debut, you’ll get a better sense of the collection’s variety via “Stolen Pills.” It picks the pace up considerably. Ergo, its video carefully approximates what it’s like to nab (and then literally take) pills. There’s also a cameo from the album cover’s overdosed raccoon. Which makes this feel a bit more conceptual than expected.

Brooklyn post-Muggabears trio Grooms shoved a number of guitar angles into their SY-inflected noise-pop anthem “Dreamsucker” (and a lot of feedback into their cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game“). If you’re paying attention, “Dreamsucker,” a Rejoicer standout, takes time to absorb completely. Think Polvo or the aforementioned Youth group. It’s nice getting another entryway via the fine feathered wild kingdom animations in this Christy Pitre and Sara Odam-directed video. Even if it doesn’t make complete sense on a bong-free Friday afternoon.

Though not exactly the new Whale, you could easily take the angle that it’s gotta be rough having a band called Little Girls in the wake of Girls’ recent explosion. (Yes, it’s harder when you’re Seattle’s the Girls.) The bigger hurdle for multi-instrumental Torontonian Josh McIntyre is having a dark lo-fi Captured Track-related project that resembles label head Mike Sniper’s Blank Dogs (and Gary War, Ye Olde Maids, and etc). Little Girls — which began as McIntyre’s solo project and now tour as a quartet — sound more like a full band, though, which sets them apart within the bedroom set. Take a listen to “Growing” the last song on their forthcoming full-length debut Concepts.

Parklife, London Calling, and A Rush Of Blood To The Head are amongst the albums getting commemorative stamps. Sounds cool. But wait, what are “stamps”? Hahahaha. Sigh.
