UNKLE’s fourth album Where Did The Night Fall is out today. We’ve given you listen to a couple of songs from the collection, both with different guest vocalists. For the third track, we get another: This time It’s San Francisco psych crew Sleepy Sun, though in “Follow Me Down”’s artfully NSFW video, it’s likely super model Liberty Ross and the woman who guard her doorway who’ll end up the focus. The clip, directed by longtime fashion-associated collaborators Warren du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones, expands upon the Where Did The Night Fall album art. In the past the two have worked with Alexander McQueen, Björk, Massive Attack, Issey Miyake, etc. They don’t skimp on angles or poses.

It hasn’t been that long since we premiered Sleepy Sun’s “Red/Black” and “White Dove” videos. But they’re already following up last year’s Embrace LP and Sleepy Son EP with a new full-length this spring. And people say stoners never get anything done. On first listen, Fever doesn’t stray far from Embrace, with the San Fransisco sextet continuing to balance summery folk jams with thunderous sludge. They’re playing a ton of SXSW shows, and will open for Arctic Monkeys for 14 dates around the US and Mexico.

The lineup for the Treasure Island Music Festival here in the Bay Area just got announced; it’s pretty solid if you ask me.

Last night’s Fleet Foxes show at The Independent was a truly magnificent affair. The opener Sleepy Sun was wildly classic and rockin’ and really gave off a good live energy. This band totally has a career ahead of itself. Next up was some old timey fella with a fiddle and a banjo who played some serious mountain music, and his name was Frank Fairfield. This was insane, though. When the headliners got on stage, frontman Robin Pecknold mentioned that the Fairfield was only 22. If you saw this guy, you may not be too surprised by his appearance but his sound was more like he stepped out of 1922. And he had this incredible part in his hair. It was like nothing I’ve ever seen.
Fleet Foxes seriously killed it. Like, it was really good. At times the room was so silent and everyone was exactly in-tune with the band. It was a wonderful feeling and rather transcendent. They are that good, and there’s no denying that there were hardly any in attendance that felt otherwise. I took some okay photos but really just focused on enjoying the music. Mission accomplished. GG FF.
