Mr. Finley is hoping that the old slogan “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” doesn’t hold true for much longer. Well, at least when it comes to his career.

The 26-year-old and his team, K.A.M.P. Wess, have been making music for years in Sin City, building up a local fanbase. A breakthrough came last summer when Finley and K.A.M.P. Wess signed a record deal through Ghet-O-Vision/ Def Jam. Although it’s taken some time to get the project off the ground, Finley is coming with a double-fisted assault of singles and videos for “Blowin Dat Endo,” a smoker’s anthem, and a dedication track for his hometown, “Sin City.”

“My father was out in the streets from before I was born until I was 17 years old,” Finley told Mixtape Daily. Pops Finley was actually grooming his son to be a singer, the MC said. “He was running the streets. I got older cousins and little cousins, they still out there running the streets. They’re still carrying on this Finley name. When Finley goes to the ‘hood, though, all his homies still call him “Weas,” short for “Weas Mac.” The abbreviated “Weas,” he said, comes from the nickname he was tagged with as a teenager: “Weasel.” It turns out the young Mr. Finley had developed a reputation for taking other guys’ girlfriends. But chasing the ladies was just a pastime — Finley’s real diversion was chasing dollars. And when it came to the concrete, he was accepted on both sides of the turf.

“My father, he started one of the only Blood gangs out here, but I didn’t really grow up with my father,” Finley said. The Streets Is Talking: News &amp; Notes From The Underground

A 50 Cent mixtape is coming, according to DJ Whoo Kid. Apparently Fif is in Las Vegas now working with Dre on Before I Self Destruct, and somewhere along the way, he’s going to put aside material for a street CD.

“I heard they locked it down this weekend,” Whoo Kid said. “[The album] is still in the oven. It’s so many records, so it’s kind of hard to choose which one to really showcase immediately out there. But as he’s doing his “Pimpin’ Curly,” annihilating Rick Ross, he’s working on a mixtape and getting it cracking out there. Same with Banks. Whoo Kid said the entire G-Unit are in “hungry dog” mode.

“Rabid on the equipment,” the DJ said. “You don’t wanna go over there, it’s vicious. You see how bad it gets with 50 when it come to revenge and beef — I’m scared to go over there.”

Speaking of scared, Eminem’s camp is wary of Whoo Kid getting anywhere near the new Slim Shady record “We Made You.” The Queens native laughed that they are afraid of him leaking the track.

“They’re stressing me not to come to the studio so I don’t Bluetooth their computers,” Whoo Kid laughed. “They’re mixing it down in Vegas. It might be today, tomorrow — but it’s definitely gonna come out.” …

Only for the fans of lyrics — Keith Murray and Canibus are recording an independent rap album together, with Erick Sermon supplying the beats.

“What happened was, I think Keith Murray and Canibus were doing shows [and came up with the idea],” Sermon explained. “They’ve been doing shows for the last six months back and forth. I guess somebody stepped to them about putting something together. They called me to do the album. I think they’re two songs deep so far, but it’s kinda ill to hear them. Keith Murray is out-there, lyrically, and now Canibus is a step way further out-there than he is. It’s a dope mixture.”

Sermon promised that there will be no commercialism on the album — the duo aren’t going for airplay, they just want to capture the underground audience.

“It’s only for heads,” E said. “I don’t think there’s gonna be one radio record on there, just rhymes and concepts.”

Expect the concepts to get really weird — Canibus has made records where he raps from the perspective of the AIDS virus, while Murr can go interplanetary like he did on “Escape From the World.” Sermon says the two are definitely going for the jugular.

“The whole thing that made EPMD dope, that’s what made Redman and Method Man dope — you kinda battle each other in between. You get busy. And, oh yeah, Gucci has a style of his own on the mic.

“We’ve seen, the past couple of years, some of the most popular artists haven’t been the most lyrical, but it’s how they say it,” said DJ Drama, who features Gucci multiple times on his upcoming Gangsta Grillz II album. “That’s one of the reasons. OK, it’s the first Mixtape Monday of 2009, and we’re switching up our whole format — at least for this week. It’s not officially recognized as a city landmark, but 226 St. James Place definitely sits on some sacred soil. The hip-hop gods didn’t have it in the cards for Big and Nas to collaborate when God’s Son visited BK, but there were some certified bangers created at 226. A Mixtape Monday Special Report

We defy you to find an MC with a catalog as deep as Notorious B.I.G.’s in the short time frame he was making music. Last year, DJ Mister Cee, who is credited with discovering Big, dropped the definitive Frank White mixtape with his 10th-anniversary tribute tape. Cee put his weight on it and had all types of obscure gems and street classics on there. In honor of Biggie and his upcoming biopic, we decided to make our own fantasy mixtape. We reached out to several top party and mixtape DJs, asking them to pick one song to put on a Biggie mixtape. Obviously, all responses came back with more than one answer.

” ‘The Whut’ had everyone around my way saying, ‘F— the world, don’t ask me for sh–,’ ” DJ Green Lantern said. “It was Big and Meth rapping back and forth in the real EPMD way of finishing lines for each other. Well, all three DJs and their peers gave us more choices as we put together a track list for our own B.I.G. tribute tape.

ATLANTA — Who will be the next MC to sell a million units in the first week? If not Kanye West or 50 Cent, then certainly Eminem.

Well, Young Buck said he doesn’t care if other artists have bigger names — he’s going to sell a million.

While Buck’s aspirations are lofty, what makes his goal even more suspect is that his next LP is in limbo. Because of Buck’s rift with the G-Unit, everything is up in the air — except the title, that is. The Tennessee native told MTV News exclusively what he plans to call the project.

“The name of my record is The Rehab,” he said with a smile Sunday in Atlanta. “Straight up, that’s where I been at.”

Buck said that he and Tupac’s protégés, the Outlawz, will put out two separate projects around the same time. “You can expect for their album at the top of the year,” he said. “Hopefully it comes January, no later than February.

“Regardless of whatever you may hear, whatever dealing with Buck, what you see is what you get,” he continued. “Honestly, to be real, 50 [Cent] made the statement to the world that ‘Buck is no longer a part of G-Unit, but he’s still an artist on the label,’ so whenever I guess he gets over his situation and figures out his album, I guess we’ll come to terms and figure out a release date on my album. Until then, I ain’t stoppin’. That’s why I’m going so hard with the mixtapes. I’m everywhere. Hopefully, we’ll get a release on my album in January or February.”

In the Southern MC’s perfect world, he’ll be able to be released from G-Unit Records. He said he already has suitors willing to buy him out of his contract if 50 is willing to sit down and negotiate.

“I’m trying to get totally away from the whole G-Unit situation, period,” he said. “If I can directly deal with Interscope, so be it. I only got two albums left anyway. So at this point, all I’m trying to do is fulfill what I got left with homeboy and move on. It’s already understood that the relationship with me and G-Unit will never be the same, so you don’t ever have to look forward to seeing me back with G-Unit. That’s not my thing. I’m staying down with the streets, and the streets are staying down with me.”
