Stick with him all night for the surprises, Simon’s farewell and, of course, the winner.
As we’ve seen previously, NYC filmmaker Ray Concepcioñ’s into creating leisurely, continuous establishing shots before he takes you into any given venue. You saw the street and the feet that walk it before watching Surfer Blood, for instance, and the Guggenheim, both indoors and out, provided the backdrop for the Walkmen’s set amid the spiral. This clip, captured 10/21 at Pianos, gives you a taste of the Lower East Side and then introduces us to “Basement,” a new track by laidback multi-tasking Jersey born BTW Real Estate.

Rock Band seemed a lock to own fake-guitar-gamer discourse with their Beatles installment, but they didn’t count on Guitar Hero’s classy Cobain maneuvering. Still, the battle for most ridiculous mock-musician timesuck springs eternal: Meet Lego Rock Band, the video game that finally allows you to pretend-play songs as lego versions of rock icons. You may be wondering how this makes sense in any way, but think about it: legos hands are perfectly shaped to hold fake mics. It’s hand science. Here’s a video-report on the game, and the trailer trumpeting Bowie’s participation. Points for varying Bowie’s iris hues, at least.

Dan Rosensweig insists his company’s offer to desecrate Kurt Cobain’s legacy was crystal clear and that Dave and Krist should take it up with Nirvana’s estate. Jon Bon Jovi’s weighed in too. No doubt this will all be cleared up soon via Courtney’s Twitter.
Pre-show begins at 8 p.m., main show begins at 9 p.m.!

Not to mention Bush, Megadeth, and Public Enemy. Last week we reported that the Nirvana frontman has been licensed as a videogame character, complete with Daniel Johnston t-shirt. Frances Bean’s rent isn’t gonna pay itself, ya know? The game, Guitar Hero 5, was released yesterday and now we know that you can unlock Kurt in Career Mode and make him do wacky things like play guitar right-handed, scream yeah boyyy, and sing Gavin Rossdale lyrics. That last indignity is probably why the uploader of this highlight reel tagged it “spinning graves kurt cobain courtney love is fucking bitch”?

Even the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, slows down long enough to get hip to all the talk around our 2009 Hottest MCs in the Game list. The Jamaican track champ has been unstoppable the past few weeks, and when it comes to the mic, he gives a gold medal to the Carters.
“When I was in the Olympics,” he told us, “I didn’t really listen to music. During the Olympics, it was mainly reggae, a little hip-hop. But I like Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, those guys. That’s who we listen to in Jamaica. A little bit of Ludacris. But as long as it’s hot, we got it.”
When asked for his #1, Bolt chose Weezy F. Baby. (To see what it takes to make the list, check out our Hottest MCs criteria.)
“Right now, it’s Lil Wayne, #1,” he said. “He’s hot. He’s got everything. He sings the right tunes. I’m seriously listening to all his songs right now. Really sitting down, listening to his lyrics, and he’s got his lyrics [down] pat now. He’s got his lyrics. He’s coming up like Jay-Z. He’s smooth. He’s got a different flow from Jay-Z, but lyrics-wise, he’s got it. He’s a lyricist. Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, I don’t care who comes third. These guys have the whole place on edge, man. It’s hot.”
Bolt said he’s getting into the mixtape circuit as well, and on the reggae tip, Vybz Kartel and Beenie Man are the tops for him.
Bolt is coming off a successful run (pun intended) through Germany, where he broke world records and took home a few more gold medals. Put your bling up against his!

It’s been almost a year since Danity Kane were disassembled. And, in that time period, the ladies have moved on to separate projects and have reflected on their time together.
“I’ve spoken and kept in touch with Aundrea [Fimbres], Shannon [Bex] and D. Woods,” she said. “I think everybody’s kind of getting back to who they were before processing what happened. Sometimes I get random calls of apologies or I’ll call and apologize for things we are processing from the past.”
O’Day said Bex is hard at work on a country album, while D. Woods is recording music and Fimbres is taking some time with her family and is looking to get back into the studio. “We all just wanted to be entertainers in life,” she said. “All of a sudden, we got swept up in this huge mess of a situation that basically all we really were was dolls, a big mass production moved around in order to make money and have power. We were just dolls.
“Here we thought we really believed in it all,” she continued. “But at the end of the day, that’s what you really are. We only saw the music. We only saw each other, and then there were cameras all the time. I think a lot of internalizing has been going on with the three girls that I mentioned.”
As for the music Dawn Richard is making with Diddy for his Last Train to Paris album, she’s cool with that. “I haven’t heard any of that, but I wish them the best of luck,” she said. “They’re both very talented people. … I wish everybody the best, all four of those women. I wish them the most success. I think all of us should and could and hopefully will be great at what we love to do best.”

Britney Spears performs at Madison Square Garden Monday night
Photo: MTV News
Britney Spears pulled out all the stops for her first night of three shows at Madison Square Garden on Monday. Donning several different sexy outfits and addressing the crowd a few times, Spears definitely showed her critics that she can still charm an arena full of fans.
After opening acts Kristinia DeBarge and Jordin Sparks finished their sets, the Circus began. First came acrobats on trampolines, then the opening video of Perez Hilton dressed as a queen presenting the show’s ringmaster, Spears herself.
Spears descended from the ceiling dressed in a shiny metal bodysuit, starting the show off with her single “Circus.” She then hopped in a cage with male dancers dressed in S&M gear for “Piece of Me.”
Britney broke out a slew of fan favorites, like “Radar” (complete with pole dancing), “Boys,” (during which she requested the male dancers do push-ups for her) and “If U Seek Amy,” which segued into Spears reemerging onstage in her genie attire for “In the Zone.”
But the crowd got most excited when Spears addressed them directly, asking how everyone was doing before saying, “I’m going to do a ballad. It’s called ‘Everytime.’ ” She then wiped something away from her cheek — it seemed she got a bit emotional while floating above the stage in the arm of a giant umbrella.
Spears spoke to the fans again, asking, “What’s up New York?” before launching into a remixed version of “I’m a Slave 4 U” sporting a sparkly black bodysuit.
“Toxic” also wowed the crowd as Britney performed the hit in skintight red pants, a black sports bra and knee-high boots. Her last song before the encore was a remixed version of her classic, ” … Baby One More Time.”
As she took the stage for final time, a video featuring the most memorable images from her music videos played as the music for “Womanizer” kicked in. Dressed as a policewoman, she closed the show with a blaze of fireworks, addressing the crowd one more time before taking her bow, saying, “Have a wonderful night.”

The Fox News host calls rapper ‘a regular Otis Redding’ after playing leaked track.

Bill O’Reilly is back at it again. The conservative talk-show host criticized Jay-Z on Monday, a day after the leak of the rapper’s new song, “Off That,” which takes aim at “The O’Reilly Factor” host, among others.
“This ain’t black versus white, my n—a, we off that/ Please tell Bill O’Reilly to fall back,” Jay-Z raps over electro synths courtesy of Timbaland. On the track, which also features Drake, the Brooklyn MC also fires off a salvo at right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh. Jay-Z charges both men with stirring up racist sentiments before closing his verse saying, “It’s 2010, not 1864.”
In a segment on his show titled “Reality Check,” O’Reilly played the song, highlighting the lyrics in question, before quickly dismissing the barb and moving on.
“A regular Otis Redding, isn’t he,” O’Reilly responded, sighing.
This isn’t the first time the two have tangled. O’Reilly, a noted hip-hop hater, lashed out at Jay-Z and Young Jeezy earlier this year during the presidential inauguration, when Jay premiered his verse to Jeezy’s hit, “My President,” at Washington D.C.’s club Love.
O’Reilly and comedian Dennis Miller alleged that the song was harmful to America. The dustup lasted a few days but ultimately subsided.
O’Reilly has a long history of going after rappers. In the past, he has been in feuds with Nas, Ludacris, and Eminem. Cam’ron is the only rapper to have appeared on the show, for a segment involving hip-hop’s influence on education. He and Dame Dash disagreed with O’Reilly before the host cut them off and ended the segment.
